Wednesday, June 20th River Rookery Cruise
Cruise up the scenic North Fork of the St. Lucie River aboard the River Lily pontoon boat. We’ll be knee deep in experts too, not only boat owners Deanna and Dana but also Laura Herron, Manager of this 5,000 acre Aquatics Preserve . Although late in the season, the birds arrived late so we hope that there will still be families in the rookery. $25 per person, includes boat trip, beverages and breakfast munchies. Cruise will be over by 10:00 a.m., so we may stop elsewhere, or may just call it an early day. Meet at Audubon of Martin County’s Possum Long parking lot at 7:30 a.m. of at Rivergate Park, opposite the Post Office on Midport Road, north turn off PSL Blvd. At 8:00 a.m. Please reserve early as participation is limited! more

Saturday, July 21st Scrub Jay Day
Babies should have fledged and be out and about! The Scrub Jay is our mascot, and we will devote the morning to viewing and learning more about the uniqueness of these endangered birds and their disappearing habitat. Leading our group in South County will be Jonathan Dickenson State Park Jay expert Steph Grant, and for the Stuart area our own Jay expert Pam Hopkins. Meet at AoMC's Possum Long Parking lot at 7:30 a.m., or at Fire Station Park, County Line Road, Tequesta at 8:00 a.m. Please reserve early - let us know where we will meet you.
August
Saturday, August 18th Adaptable Birds!
Beach nesting birds- where have they all gone? Loss of habitat and disturbance by hurricanes, human and animal inferences have driven many birds away for good. Not so for all. Let AoMC's Executive Director, Greg Braun, show you some adaptable survivors ; Martin County birds who have totally changed their breeding habits and colony locations in pursuit of the preservation of the species. Meet at AoMC's Possum Long parking lot at 7:30 a.m.
See adaptable bird list.
September
Wednesday, September 19th Local Habitats I
“Say Goodnight, Gracie”. First of three field trips this year focusing on very local and compact destinations, this one will be at day‘s close. Haney Creek Park and maybe nearby Rio Nature Park, both sites just north of the Roosevelt Bridge. It will be interesting to once again view Haney Creek as the new wetlands mature, explore a newly opened area too. This will be our first evening trip! Meet at Haney Creek Park on the north side of Baker Road east of Rt. 1 at 6:00 p.m. Sunset will be at 7:30.
October 07
Wednesday, October 17 - Field Trip, Lake Okeeechobee Ridge: (See field trip info) Would you believe one can still hike along the original shoreline of Lake O? Join AoMC as we explore the Rafael E. Sanchez Memorial Trail, a unique six-mile trail through a park that averages only 150 feet wide! But the park contains some of the only old growth cypress and oak in the area. Being fall migration, we have the potential of seeing many transiting songbirds that are attracted to the east shore of the lake.
